Switchboard Upgrades

Reasons to Upgrade

There are many reasons why your existing switchboard may need to be upgraded to today's standards. Older style ceramic fuse wedges and bakelite fittings are no longer safe and can be a potential fire hazard. Domestic switchboards are required by law to have  RCD's (Residual Current Device) installed on all sub circuits, not just your power circuits. These are designed to protect people as well as the electrical system.

With the advent of "smart" metering there is an increasing need to upgrade electrical equipment so that your electricity provider can install a new style meter.

Modern switch gear is designed to protect you in a way that older style boards will not. The modern RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overload) will trip your circuit before there is a danger to persons or property. There is no more rewiring of fuses when your power trips and you will never need to hunt in the dark for rolls of fuse wire again.
